How the expectation is calculated
Expected generation = kW × sun-hours × 0.8 × 30, reduced by ~0.6% for each year of panel age. The 0.8 performance ratio already includes normal inverter, heat, dust and wiring losses — so the expectation is realistic, not a brochure number.
Reading your score
Above 90% of expectation is a healthy system. 75–90% usually means recoverable losses — a cleaning and a shade survey often bring back most of it. 50–75% points at a fault or a serious site issue worth diagnosing. Below 50%, part of your system is likely not producing at all.
One caution on seasons
A single winter month will read low and a single peak month high — that is the sun, not a fault. Compare an average of several months, or the same month across years, before concluding anything.
How much should my solar system generate per month?
Roughly kW × your city's sun-hours × 0.8 × 30. A 7 kW system in Karachi should average near 890 kWh/month across the year; individual months swing seasonally.
My system is below expectation — is it broken?
Not necessarily. Between 75–90% the usual suspects are dust, partial shading and heat. Below 75%, check for a failed string, growing shade, or an inverter fault. Below 50%, call your installer.
Where do I find my actual generation?
Your inverter's app or display shows monthly generation; a net-metering (green) meter also records exported and generated units. Use an average of several months if you can.
